“Our short-term goals are to get folks home for the holidays”

• There are more African American men incarcerated in the U.S. than the total prison populations in India, Argentina, Canada, Lebanon, Japan, Germany, Finland, Israel and England, combined.

• Ziegler, a PhD recipient now based in Oakland, explains that a July tweet proposing the app idea gained traction, inspiring him to pursue the concept in a real way.

• While Appolition.us is another towering extension of Ziegler’s contributions towards aiding marginalized people, he knows it’s a small step towards bringing light and hope to the trying effects mass incarceration presents.

remember when square-enix paid for florence + the machine to perform a cover of 1961 soul classic stand by me and then only used it in a single trailer and the credits for final fantasy xv

because i really think we don’t talk enough about how fucking bizarre that was

Why was it bizarre?

in a game production that was already years behind schedule and vastly over-budget, they bought the cover rights for one of the most beloved songs in the english language, hired one of the UK’s most successful indie bands to cover it, and then hired an entire orchestra to provide the backing

they then proceeded to use this extremely expensive asset for a single trailer and two cutscenes (one of which just uses an excerpt and the other being the credits)

don’t get me wrong, i’m glad they did it because it was by far the best thing to come out of ffxv, but it’s this kind of blatant disregard for budget and poorly-thought-out experiments with other media that nearly killed squaresoft back in the early 00s

20 year old beginner: one year of learning flute and butterfly knife skillz :)

Fun fact: Adults actually learn those “You need to practice!” skills better than children do.

Kids tend to want to do literally anything aside from learning this skill my parent is forcing me to learn

Adults actually can sit down and practice things for hours on end. Adults WANT to practice to get their skills better. Adults deliberately set aside time every day to practice. Even if it’s just 20 minutes, it’s productive growth and not wiggling in your chair mournfully watching birds out the window.

Anything from Drawing to Weaving to Violin to fuckin flipping bufferfly knives like a pro - choose a skill and LEARN, dammit! None of that ‘Children’s brains are more malleable’ bullshit. Brain squish is not the end-all of learning!

This is how you become a bard

The “All for One is Izuku’s father” theory is both interesting and hilarious because any time I think about it, I just imagine Toshinori finding out and having a “I love this child with every fiber of my being and he has my complete trust but how the fuck did I manage to choose the one (1) child of my arch-nemesis as a successor” moment.

There’s also this

All for One: That’s my son

Toshinori, who has been Izuku’s father figure for years by now: I’ve already won this game and I didn’t even know I was playing
